Resting in Grace

Thanks to Christ’s death and resurrection, we don’t have to stress, strive, or perform. We simply need to rest in what Christ has already done. That is when we begin to come alive and find the power and courage to live as He intended. That’s when we experience true and lasting freedom. This sixty-day devotional helps women reflect on God’s grace and the freedom of living deeply anchored in Him.

Delivered by Christ

By Ginny Davidson

“Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress.” Psalm 107:6

I stood tall and free in many areas, yet chains invisible to the human eye dragged behind me. I acted like I had it all together and worked hard not to let others down. Eventually this people-pleasing wove its way into my adulthood, but then I suffered from postpartum anxiety and mind-melting effects once doctors removed a brain tumor. The weight became too much. I was held captive.

I recognized my chains of control and fear of letting people down and cried out to God. He listened, He helped me not to worry about other people’s perceptions; what mattered was Him. What matters now is Him. This realization brought freedom.

We all have chains, things we allow to keep us captive, and chains seem to beget more. The more we’re weighed down, the more weight we seem to attract. Until we can’t move.

But Jesus offers us salvation and freedom! In Galatians 5:1 Scripture says, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

I pray this freedom for you today.
