Our editing team is the backbone, gatekeepers, and safety-filters for everything we create. We take our role as Bible speakers and teachers seriously and therefore want to do all we can to ensure we are communicating God’s truth well and doing staying true to Scripture’s intended message.
That’s where these amazing team members come in! From content edits, copyedits, to biblical vetting, they comb through blog posts, devotions, oral presentations, our studies, and more.
Meet our amazing editors!
Some of you may remember Shellie Arnold from her role as a social media hostess. She also serves on the board, is presenting content on following God’s leading during our upcoming Beautiful Mess Mother-Daughter event, and often helps edit as well. She has a heart for ensuring readers understand the messages our writers and speakers are trying to convey and helps us consider how those healing from deep wounds might hear or interpret various phrases.
As a writer and editor, her role is to enhance effective communication on the page. She also helps her writing and speaking teammates evaluate how their content might be interpreted by women from numerous experiences and demographics.
As a speaker and podcaster, she connects with our audience, sharing what God has asked her to share with transparency and vulnerability.
She asked about her experience in all of her diverse roles, she said, “I most enjoy when what I have shared, written, or spoken helps and ministers to the women I encounter, giving hope, encouragement, or even a challenge in their faith.”
Her favorite verse comes from Isaiah 1:18, 19, which states, “Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the… Click To Tweet
Jessica Brodie serves in numerous ways, from writing to editing to creating video devotions and more. She’s from Miami, Florida (born and raised). Now I live outside Columbia, SC. Her super talent is not prancing across balance beams. In fact, she’s really bad at physical balance, even just standing on one foot. She says this is probably a metaphor for my chaotic life. We’d say, physical stability aside, she seems to manage all the things life throws at her quite well.
She’s also really good in a panic and not-so-secretly love when an emergency arises and she’s in the vicinity and can assist; She has a calm, logical, clearheadedness that helps, and has been able to do things like CPR, help after accidents, etc. She probably fancies herself a closet EMT or ER doctor. And she thinks she’d stand a good chance at wildness survival if ever needed, though she’s actually never even been camping and grew up in the city. 🙂
She absolutely loves hearing from readers and viewers. She said, “I really appreciate feedback from people who’ve said a particular devotion helped them, or seemed like an answered prayer after they asked God for something and then they read what I wrote.” It’s not ME but God’s use of me that is so fulfilling! Her favorite verse comes from Philippians 4:13, which states, “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

Karen Greer’s gifts and talents are research, an attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy in the Scriptures that we use in our devotionals. She uses these talents in numerous ways through study of varied commentaries and accepted/authoritative Bible translations. That helps ensure the devotionals and Scriptures are true to the Word of God, so we don’t inadvertently lead our readers astray with questionable or unfounded teachings.
Her research and Scripture vetting is growing her as well. “It’s a great opportunity for me to study further and improve my knowledge,” she said. “That helps me to be ready to ‘… give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.'” (1 Peter 3:15)
We love how God blesses us as we seek to bless others!
Karen has a strong desire to see women walking in truth. “There are so many false teachings and interpretations of Scripture in our world today,” she says. “I hope that by ensuring accuracy in our content and quoted Scripture, I help women use Wholly Loved Ministries as a reliable, accurate and consistent source of Bible teaching and devotionals.”
In many ways, her editorial work is an act of worship that deepens her understanding of God and the Bible. “Through my editing and research, I’ve become more discerning in my studies,” she said, “ensuring that a thought or passage accurately reflects the authoritative word of God. I feel God’s heart is revealed in our accurate and Scripturally based devotionals, as we work to guard against false teachings.”
Her favorite verse comes from James 5:12, which states, “Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear–not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple ‘Yes’ or ‘No.’ Otherwise you will be condemned.”
LaShawn Montoya has spent most of her life in ministry, whether that’s been serving with her husband as an oversea missionary, on church staff, with us, or as a tri-church planter in the Chino California area. She is a super fast reader and a deep thinker with a heart for introducing people to Christ and helping them find life in Him.
She’ll also be sharing a thought-provoking testimony during our upcoming Beautiful Mess Mother-Daughter Conference. (Find out more HERE.)
Her primary role is to ensure everything presented/ written within Wholly Loved is biblically sound, accurate, and appropriately applied. She loves getting to read all content before “the rest of the world” gets to! She says, “It’s fun and the content is always encouraging personally to me.”
Her hope is that the women gain sound biblical insight and wisdom that they can trust is reliable and accurate. We’re super grateful for her heart for truth and her faithful service and keen insights.
She has such a beautiful ability to see Christ in everything she edits and those she walks beside as an editor. She said, “I’ve seen God’s heart displayed by each author and speaker as they take God’s timeless truths that He has impressed on their hearts and apply them to real life situations that we can learn from. Gods word is always reliable and profitable (2 Tim 3:16).
LaShawn’s favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:38-39, which states, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Joanne Sher has been writing and editing for as long as we can remember. She has such a sweet way of inspiring writers to grow in their craft. Her primary role is to make sure our blog posts communicate clearly exactly what the writers want them to–and that they glorify God.
To her, editing is like a puzzle. She says, “It brings me so much joy to be able to take the amazing messages of the Wholly Loved writers and make them clearer, more succinct, and more impactful. Plus–I get to read the posts before ANY of you guys :D”
We’re super grateful for that, too, Joanne! And for all the typos and oopses you catch! 🙂
When asked what she most hopes women gain from our blog posts, she said, “God is SO evident in the writing of our bloggers–I hope that women will listen carefully to them, and apply the truths God is sharing through them, and draw closer to Him.”
She sees God’s heart displayed as well. “He is so clearly in the writing I get the privilege of reading, and in the hearts of the writers as well,” she said. “I love how receptive the women are to my suggestions – how willing they are to give God, rather than themselves (or even me) the glory. They are constant reminders of God’s heart for me, and ALL women, to me!”
She has two favorite verses. Isaiah 53:5 brought her to salvation. It states, Meet Our Editing Team Click To Tweet
Her second favorite passage comes from Philippians 4:6-7, which says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
